Invisalign® Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a teeth-straightening solution that eliminates the need for metal wires and brackets. Using computer imaging technology, Dr. Kupetz designs a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligner trays that incrementally shift your teeth over time.

As your teeth move, you will swap out your trays for another set every couple of weeks until your teeth are in their final position.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible, and they are removable. You need to wear them for about 20-22 hours a day, but you can take them out to brush your teeth and to eat without restrictions. Other benefits include:

  • Little to no discomfort
  • Limited interruptions to your lifestyle
  • Progressive results
  • Faster treatment time than traditional braces

What issues can Invisalign treat?

Invisalign’s unique design and customization options make it suitable for treating most problems that metal braces correct, including:

  • Underbite
  • Overbite
  • Crossbite
  • Twisted teeth
  • Crooked teeth

Invisalign can correct many cosmetic issues that might affect your self-esteem and also improve the overall function of your mouth, warding off potentially costly dental problems in the future.

What can I expect with Invisalign?

At Smile of the Woodlands, Dr. Kupetz uses a scanner to create a 3D image of your teeth and mouth in minutes. These scans are sent to a lab to create a full set of custom aligners for your entire course of treatment.

You’ll advance to a new set of trays every few weeks as your teeth incrementally shift into their brand-new position. Most patients feel minimal discomfort during the straightening process and find it relatively easy to adapt their lifestyle to accommodate the Invisalign aligners.

You’ll be able to eat your favorite foods, speak without discomfort or embarrassment, and unless you tell them, people won’t even be able to know that you’re wearing an orthodontic appliance.
